Q: Will Medicare cover my ambulance trip?
A: Medicare Part B will cover a non-emergency ambulance trip as long as you have a statement from your doctor stating that ambulance transportation is medically necessary because of your medical condition. Medicare Part B will cover any trip that you have to make to the emergency room without a statement from your doctor.


Q: Will Medicare cover my wheelchair van trip?
A: No, Medicare will not cover wheelchair van transportation. However, you can pay by cash, check, or credit card at the time of service or pre-pay the service.


Q: Do I have to submit any paperwork for billing?
A: Preferred Medical Transport will submit paperwork on your behalf to ensure that your ambulance trip is covered by Medicare or your private insurance, whichever applies to you. However, there may be additional paperwork for you to complete, depending on your circumstances. If you would like to pay by credit card, please call our billing department at 713-222-0326 between 8 am and 4 pm to make a secure payment by phone.


Q: Which healthcare facilities does Preferred Medical Transport provide services to?
A: Preferred Medical Transport provides emergency and non-emergency ambulance and wheelchair van services to all doctor offices, hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, dialysis centers, adult day care facilities, rehabilitation facilities, long distances, and any other healthcare services you need to go to.


Q: Can I be picked up at the airport?
A: Yes, we can pick you up at the airport. We will need to know the following information in advance: airport, flight number, flight status, diagnosis, any special equipment that we might need to bring (i.e. oxygen), and destination.


Q: My patient does not speak English. Will my patient be comfortable using your services?
A: Yes, in fact we speak 6 languages at Preferred Medical Transport. If you want to make sure that your patient will feel most at ease with our Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians, please mention which language you need when you call to schedule the trip and we will do our best to accommodate your request.


Q: How far in advance do I need to call to arrange for transportation?
A: For most local trips (less than 50 miles) we can normally provide same day service. For trips in excess of 50 miles, we request at least 24 hours notice so that we can schedule a crew that is rested and can provide the quality service that Preferred Medical Transport is known for.
